Welcome

About Me

I’m Hannah, and I’m a writer. My work is guided by my deepest-held values: access to education, labor rights and just working conditions, and the ability to utilize one’s voice. Currently, I’m focused on the history of nuclear power and energy in Pennsylvania.

In 2016, I earned my Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Physics, Music Theory, and Oboe Performance from Lebanon Valley College. My liberal arts education instilled in me a desire to forge connections among seemingly disparate ideas and navigate the spaces in between disciplines.

Following graduation, I was a Fulbright Grantee in Graz, Austria studying musicology at Karl-Franzens-Universität and teaching English in two Gymnasien. Over my ten months in Austria I became fascinated with the nuances of cross-cultural communication and understanding.

In 2019, I earned my Master of Arts degree from the University of Oregon. I attended graduate school as a Graduate Teaching Fellow in both the School of Music and Dance and Department of Physics. My thesis synthesized ideas from music theory, philosophy of science, and central European intellectual history.

After graduate school, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for History of Physics at the American Institute of Physics. I coordinated outreach and education initiatives and wrote about various topics in the history of physics.

I’m currently based in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. working in science publishing and writing weekly posts for the American Physical Society’s Physics Buzz blog. My writing has been published in Physics Today, Physics Buzz,  Radiations Magazine, The Science Teacher journal, and Ex Libris Universum.

I am also serving on the Community Advisory Panel for the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant decommissioning of Unit 2.
